Your avatar actually looks a bit like a young man I know. He was raised as a witness, but he left back in 2006 I think. His name is Andrew.

one time at work I was assigned to mentor a new employee. I was required to participate in a Leadership Training program which included a personality test (I don't remember the name of it). What was so striking about it was that all of the oldtimers like me were clustered in the same quadrant of the results graph. In fact, we were packed together like sardines in one tiny little area. I had never met or interacted with any of the other oldtimers before, but apparantly we were all birds of a feather. The newbies were scattered out all over the graph - I wish I had taken notes on who was where and who is still with us.

several people from my former hall make mp3 recordings of the assemblies. if you have an mp3 player that can record fm radio transmissions, you can get good quality recordings of the nonsense easily.

What was the first thing you did...
by OneDayillBeFree inwhen you left the man-made organization currently known as the wtbts??.
and for those still "in" but mentally "out" what have you started doing thats against the silly, stupid and non-scriptural watchtower policy/law/rule??.
i know the question has been made before on another thread but i couldn't find it and also there's been quite some growth in new ones here to jwn, so just wanted to see if we could all share some lovely/funny/random experiences.

I signed my kids up for the Boy Scouts, borrowed the Harry Potter books from the library, and begged my husband to grow his beard in.

If I remember correctly, they believe that whatever external genitalia you were born with is how you must live. So a person with male genitals must live as a heterosexual male. If a person is born with ambiguous genitals, or both sets, or neither, I have no idea what they would expect of the person.

WTWizard, I think you overestimate the IRS's cojones. In my experience, most US tax authorities are reluctant to hassle large, well funded religious organizations. For instance, the state of Illinois has just begun to review the tax exempt status of several hospitals with the intent of revoking their property tax and sales tax exemptions. Under Illinois law, to qualify for those exemptions, the organization has to be *primarily* charitable. No hospital I've ever heard of has met that test in the last 30 years, but they are just now really looking to enforce the rule. I don't think the IRS will ever single out the WTBTS for tax enforcement - they don't really even like to mess with smaller, single location churches who are clearly violating the political activity rules.
